This program will provide an educational opportunity for SWBRC staff to receive information regarding advance directives. The presentation will cover the different types of advance directives including health care power of attorney, mental health care power of attorney, financial power of attorney, living will, and pre-hospital directive. The program will also provide a basic overview of guardianship and conservatorship and address incapacity versus incompetence. The program will discuss the importance of these documents for our patient population and how having (or not having) these documents completed affects the delivery of our patients healthcare. Staff will gain knowledge regarding where to locate these documents in the medical record and how to interpret them. Presenter will dispel some common myths regarding these documents and offer opportunity for questions. |
