Glaucoma is difficult to define because it refers to a variety of conditions. The common thread for each of these conditions is that the eye pressure is too high for the health of the eye. This presentation will discuss the ocular anatomy and physiology related to glaucoma so that participants can better identify the different types of glaucoma. Each type will be illustrated through a case study. The steps of the diagnostic progress will be elaborated, and each of the treatment modalities, including medications, laser, or surgery will be explained. The prognosis of glaucoma will be discussed so that participants gain a better understanding of the type of support required by patients who have glaucoma. |
