Addictions: Substance Use Disorder TrainingAddiction is a complex and challenging disease. There is an opioid epidemic in Massachusetts and its impact on individuals, families and our communities is tremendous. MCB is committed to providing education and training for our staff so they can better serve our consumers with substance use disorder. This 5-hour contact hour training will address the science of addictive disorders and the current evidence base of effective interventions for non-specialists practitioners. We will focus on the needs of the MCB direct service staff with regard to: understanding the processes and manifestations of drug use disorders, the brief screening of such disorders, and the implementation of the brief conversational interventions to increase the consumer s interest in change with regard to their alcohol and drug use. |
