Managing Central Scotomas and Eccentric Fixation in Primary Eye Care, Kendall Krug, OD Course Description: This lecture will explain the different types of scotomas along with their signs and symptoms that maybe be encountered in daily practice. Simple diagnostic testing using typical office exam equipment will be discussed. A strategy for determining the best functioning eye and suggested rehabilitation techniques will be covered along with a comparison to techniques used in Vision Therapy. Vision Therapy for the Patient (Person) with a Head Injury, Joseph Sullivan, OD Course Description: Individuals who have a neurological problem resulting from conditions such as TBI, CVA and Concussion, often have binocular dysfunction affecting performance as well as posture and balance issues. The visual process plays an important role in development to organize binocularity as well as posture and balance. Often individuals incurring a neurological event and demonstrating binocular dysfunction will be diagnosed in relationship to the binocular disorder without a more appropriate understanding of the dysfunction in visual processing.This course will explore the relationship of the bimodal visual process and its primary role in rehabilitation following a neurological event. |
