Job Summary:  Provide instruction on the use of accessible computer based technology and devices including Access Technology software applications for individuals with visual impairments. Assist, instruct and/or coordinate client training and performance throughout vocational training.

Principal Responsibilities


  • Reflect Lighthouse Central Florida’s mission, vision, and values in daily interactions with clients, staff, and all external and internal constituencies
  • Model and champion all organizational core values
  • Identify and actively support all appropriate involvement of all volunteers and program functions to extend and enhance team effectiveness and efficiency.  Serve as the primary staff contact for volunteers who are assisting with aspects of assigned work
  • Supervise assigned volunteers and ensure adherence to volunteer policies and procedures including recruitment, application process, utilization, and record keeping of volunteer hours
  • Assist with training and professional development of colleagues as appropriate to acquired experience and education
  • Participate in agency and department meetings to ensure communication and team work
  • Comply with agency policies and procedures including completion of required documentation and reports (timesheets, certificates of absence, etc.)

Service Provision:

  • Provide instruction relevant to the needs of the individual student.  Produce, administer, and review curriculum to meet training demands as appropriate. 
  • Conduct functional assessments to identify goals, technical skills and appropriate adaptive software needs
  • Provide center-based, outreach and/or itinerant instructional services appropriate to the assessed needs and goals of the client
  • Review assessment recommendations with client
  • Develop Individualized Training Plans.

Case Management and Reporting:

  • Communicate routinely with Division of Blind Services counselor(s), Lighthouse case managers and other staff as appropriate to expedite each client’s movement through service delivery.
  • Ensure maintenance of complete, accurate and timely documentation on assigned clients necessary to meet agency and contractual requirements
  • Facilitate the request and receipt of purchase orders (POs).  Ensure timely and accurate billing of all Purchase Orders.
  • Maintain the confidentiality of program participants in accordance with State and Federal regulations

Community Education:

  • Support and assist in collaborative activities with community partners as assigned.
  • Participate in community education and public awareness activities to develop collaboration with other agencies, municipalities, civic organizations, and schools to ensure that vision rehabilitation services are recognized as an important resource to the community and known to individuals who can benefit from services.

Professional Development:

  • Participate in available continuing education and staff development opportunities.
  • Participate in general agency development activities and events as appropriate and necessary.
  • Participate in agency and department meetings to ensure communication and team work
  • Participate as a member of the Rehabilitation Services team and support all aspects of Lighthouse Central Florida’s Services
  • Participate in and support the values and mission of Lighthouse Central Florida, Inc.
  • Perform other duties as required 



  • Bachelor’s Degree or higher required. Training in the use of Assistive or Adaptive Technology for the Blind required.
  • Certified as a CATIS - current certification or actively pursuing one of the following:
  • Division of Blind Services Access Technology Endorsement Certificate


Minimum of one (1) year experience teaching Access Technology or using Access Technology in a working environment, preferred
