Through December 31, 2005, the Academy for Certification of Vision Rehabilitation and Education Professionals (ACVREP) will be granting a discount to any AOTA member who is interested in seeking certification in Low Vision Therapy, Orientation and Mobility and/or Vision Rehabilitation Therapy (formerly Rehabilitation Teaching).

There are three steps to obtaining certification through ACVREP. They are as follows:

1. Complete and submit an eligibility application, including all of the required documents and appropriate application fee. All of our eligibility applications can be downloaded from our website (see the “Downloads” page). The eligibility application fee for AOTA members is $25.00 versus $40.00 for non-AOTA members.
2. Once you are found eligible to sit for the exam, you can then take the exam at one of the sites listed on our website (see the “Exam Information” page) or select a site in your local community. The exam fee is $100.00 whether or not you are an AOTA member.
3. Once you pass the exam, you can then apply for certification. The ACVREP Board of Directors reviews and approves all certification applications. The five-year certification fee is $250.00 for AOTA members versus $375.00 for non-AOTA members.

The overall cost savings for AOTA members applying for ACVREP certification is $140.00.
